Citadel C23 Ogre - Skrag The Slaughterer

The empire project has taken a bit of a halt for now, due to being a bit indecisive on colours for the next regiment so in order to keep the momentum going, I've dipped back into the chaos army project with another ogre. This time, Skrag the Slaughterer.
This has been a bit of a saga in regards to acquiring one in decent condition. Shortly before I was due to paint my original one, I noticed there was quite a bit of miscasting around the face so decided to search for a more intact one, rather than attempting to repair with green stuff. I managed to get hold of another soon enough but on arrival, it was pretty beat up so the hunt frustratingly continued. Third time lucky, despite initially being sent to the wrong address and me receiving the wrong model, I now found myself in the possession of a perfect specimen.
Despite being a classic citadel personality and a pretty cool model, he's not the most interesting to paint but I am more than happy with it and he pairs up nicely with the Chaos Ogre that I recently finished.
So I may work on some more chaos models while I consider my options with the Empire project; can't fully decide just yet.

  1. Nice work, great flesh tones I especially appreciate the colouration around the scar and the yellowing of the teeth near the gumline.

Shame about the ordeal in getting him though.

Still paid off in the end.

    1. Thanks Mike. He was sat on the desk for a bit with just his head to paint before I decided what I was going to do with it.

Yeah I did actually give up on the idea of including him in the army for a while due to all the problems I had with tracking down a decent one. Glad I didn't though.

  3. So what do you do with the surplus two copies that don't meet your standards?

    1. They're both in the chaos box for now but I think a friend is having one for a conversion

  4. Glad you stuck with the hunt , this one was worth the trouble. He pairs beautifully with your Chaos Ogre. Looking forward to whatever comes next, Chaos or Empire

    1. Thank you, Gimnir. Yeah they work nicely as a pair. Still undecided on what is next. It's been an intensive few weeks with work so the hobby has taken a bit of a back seat for the moment.

  5. Great work - love the 5 o'clock shadow on his jaw and the darkened nose, your colors add a lot of character to an already characterful sculpt.

  6. Thanks, Bill. It was looking a little bit flat until adding some ruddy complexion brought him to life a bit.
