Mordheim Warhammer Empire Mercenary Captain

I've been meaning to seriously take on a Mordheim project using classic 4th edition Empire models for a good, long while now. I've made attempts in the past but never really got that far. I think one of the main issues was not ever finalising the choices of miniatures throughout the warband. This time I think I've got there. Anyway, up first is the leader.
I've decided on the classic standard bearer as my captain with a simple pistol conversion from one of the Empire champions. This model is my all time favourite of the 4th edition Empire range, as it happens.
The plan is to add two or three of the 4th edition swordsmen, a greatsword, a handgunner, a couple of youngbloods and an ogre.

  1. Outstanding work - and I agree, that 4th edition standard bearer is an ace figure. I played in a very short-lived Mordheim campaign a few years back and included him, with standard, in my Averland warband.

    1. Cheers, Bill! Yeah, he's an absolute classic. He also features in my halberdier regiment. I nearly had him unchanged as a standard for this warband but in the end, opted to use him as the commander.

  3. I really like this! I agree that the 4th edition Empire miniatures just nailed the look perfectly and my favorite as well.

    1. Definitely. They were quite a leap from the Citadel fighters and men at arms ranges from the 80's.

  4. I love your colour choices. I find coloured armour to be intimidating to do but it looks so good.

    1. Thanks, Dave. I've painted this technique of armour quite a bit over the years but when I've not done it in a while, I find it a little daunting, this time included. I left it till last on this guy, actually.
