My Top 10 Favourite Miniatures of All Time

Right so this is my top 10 list, which I did put up on the Facebook thread plus Axiom's blog. Also, thought I'd add a bit more info on them plus some pictures.

C33 Chaos General
Sculpted by Alan or Michael Perry from the excellent Adventure Packs range that had a foot and mounted version. I first laid eyes on him in the 3rd Citadel Compendium. His appearance is spot on and it just sums up that Ultimate leader of Chaos feel. Never saw him in the shops back in the 80's for some reason and had to track him down with some difficulty during the fofollowing decade.

C33 Chaos Hero
See above really - another Perry sculpt. A wonderous characterful figure that with the General and the Champion and Knight make a mean unit when amassed.

Chaos Battering Ram
I have championed this a great deal of late; sculpted by Chaz Elliott. It is a marvellously bizarre creative piece from the Arcane Monstrocities range that is increasingly rare to get hold of these days.

Dwarf Juggernaut
Another Arcane Monstrosity, this time from Tony Ackland.
Again, much coveted by yours truly it's remained a highly popular piece which is pretty tricky to assemble.

Chaos Ogre
A classic Jes Goodwin sculpt from a range in which every figure was top drawer. Like most of this list, I first saw this in my beloved 3rd Citadel Compendium.

Gladiator Ogre
Another Goodwin classic that i just had to have the moment I first ever laid eyes on it. Its versatility enables it to double up as a Blood Bowl player.

1st Edition Blood Bowl Ogre
Sorry if this is getting a bit samey. This one is actually a brother sculpt to the one above and was released a year after. Sadly it never made it to the big catalogue changeover in the early 90's; perhaps due to having a slotta base and not designed for a 40mm base.

Rogue Trader Marine
(middle)
A brilliant range just brimming with character and none more so that this fellow. Going under the name of Brother Napier in White Dwarf, he looks the business. So cool is he, he even manages to get away with sporting a flat top with tied back mullet.

Gladius
One of the Heroic Fighters of the Known World.
Another Jes Goodwin classic. His helmet alone earns him a place
in my top 10.

Tuern Redvenom
Jes Goodwin once again. When the excellent range of star players came out in 1988, Tuern stood out above the rest. I have lost count how many times I have painted him over the years.

More Rogue Trader Space Marines

Have been a bit quiet on here lately. Been going through a bit of poor form and busy with work. After having rather a lot of unfinished figures on the workbench, I have managed to get some more Marines done that needed finishing off.

More on the way soon with luck.

I've really got back into the swing of painting these guys; starting to come thick and fast. May even have a completed army soon at this rate.

Some Citadel classics. Gyokurinti The Strangler, Fergus McEwman, Complete Adventurer.

Just a few various characters here. Think I picked up Gyokurinti in amongst some other Hobgoblin solid base guys several years ago. He's complete with tail which apparently is a bit of a rare thing. The other two were about a pound each from Southsea Models many years ago.

Gyokurinti The Strangler
Uncatalogued Hobgoblin Hero

Fergus McEwman from The Tragedy of McDeath.
Aka Hercule Throb of C01 Fighters range.

Limited Edition Complete Adventurer. LE20

Chaos Blood Bowl Team

These guys have been hanging around for about 10 years waiting for the rest of the team to be painted. I think it's about time I got the rest done. More to follow soon with luck.

After finding a mounted Kaleb Daark in an old pile of fig junk in Southsea Models back in the late 90's that was missing a right hand and dreadaxe I decided he'd make a satisfactory Chaos player. He now sports a pair of Chaos Marauders boots.

Yes I know this is a werewolf but there were a couple of similar Realm of Chaos beastmen sculpts so I've always thought he passes for one.

RR12 Flying Gargoyles of Barda

I decided to opt out of painting these guys in stone and went for something a little more lively. The troopers have been repositioned vertical as opposed to horizontal being pinned at the foot and filling in the flying stand hole in their abdomens thus displaying more of their fronts. Still need the standard bearer and musician to complete this lot.

Heroic Fighters of the Known World

I am aiming to paint all eight of this popular Jes Goodwin boxed set although despite getting it for a birthday present off one of my sisters back in 1987 I only have half of them left so need to sort that out. I've only done three so far; Gladius (my personal favourite of all the eight), Manfred and Lord Aquila. The Moon Duke will be next at some stage and then the others when I aquire them.

Dwarf Dragon Slayer now Half-Orc Slayer

Nothing against the dragon head that comes with this fig but I just fancied doing something different with the Dwarf itself.
