Rogue Trader Space Marine Sergeant on Bike

Here is the last in a trio of bikes which rounds off my Rogue Trader Marine army for a while. This guy is the sergeant who I have used one of the limited edition Christmas Marines/Spaced Out Marines, giving him a pair of riders legs.

Using non original bike rider figures like Rhino tank crewmen and the Christmas marine gave me a bit more scope and envisaged that mounting up or parked up feel. Incidentally, the other Christmas Marine has been converted but he'll be mounted on something different.

But for now, the Star Reavers marine chapter comes to a close. All that remains is a terminator librarian, a medic, a techmarine and one more unit which will remain anonymous until I can amass them. A refreshing new project will begin this week so I should have one or two figures from that to post up very soon.

Rogue Trader Space Marine Devastator Unit

This project is coming to a close and here is the final 10 man unit completed. The heavy boys were done some time ago but just had to get round to painting the bolter men. Nothing really new to say here what with all the recent posts. It does feel weird having them all done though. Bike squad will be the next post before I take another break from this lot for a while.

Another medic has been used here (centre) as a standard marine

Rogue Trader Space Marine Assault Unit and Dreadnought

For years I have admired the splendor of seeing assault troops in units of ten all decked out in original rogue trader jump packs. Now I've finally doubled the tally of my own unit of five to complete the unit.

The guy on the left is another Rhino crewman used for other purposes. The battle hardened chap in the middle for is a brilliant fig and has to be the jewel in the assault marine crown.

While I was at it, I decided to add some much needed detail to what I was beginning to realise was a rather dull looking dreadnought devoid of the markings that have graced others depicted from the classic rogue trader era.

Rogue Trader Space Marine Chapter Master and Champion

Next up are two additions to my Star Reavers Space Marine chapter; the Chapter Master and the Chapter Master's Champion.

Arjath Lysitheus, Chapter Master of The Star Reavers and Rasiel Hadrioleus, Arjath's Champion.

I have used two known Space Marine characters to create these; Ultramarine Chapter Master Marneus Calgar and Space Wolf Primarch Leman Russ. Unlike character models in 40k today that are very specific, Calgar is quite a generic sculpt so can easily be used as a character figure for any marine army. The stone chair is inscripted with "Our Presence Remakes The Past" which I believe is an Ultramarine motto but hey, you can't really see it with him sat on the chair so what the hell.

I used a medic's chainsword for Rasiel as the original weapon was very runic and too Space Wolf like. Besides, his previous owner had removed it already.

Rogue Trader Space Marine Army Update - Tactical Squad

With the addition of the attack bike to my army last month, I have now produced a second tactical squad. Having a spare sergeant and specialist weapon guy already hanging around for a while, it was time their unit was complete.

The far right figure is a medic who has had his sigils removed to become a standard marine; I have also done this before to create a pair or assault troopers. In fact, I have now run out of figures to represent any medics.

So just another five marines to complete my devastator unit and five to complete the assaults. The end is in sight but still have one or two characters and bikers to paint up as well.

Rogue Trader Space Marine Update - Attack Bike

After a several month break of any production on my Rogue Trader Marine Army, I have decided to get back on it. I was surprised how relatively quickly I churned out this Marine Attack Bike; about 4 evenings which is pretty good going for me.
Just as the previous bike I painted last year, the rider is one of the Rhino crewmen which most of them make more than adequate bikers. I've always been a big fan of the passenger;  the dude with the scanner whose versatility makes him ideal for poking out the top of a Rhino or Predator as well.

Assembling this beast was a bit tricky at times; particularly the connection between bike and sidecar frame. I had to force a pair of tweezers underneath for support overnight while the epoxy resin was setting (I opted not to pin this join). This morning I had to carefully detatch the tweezers that had ended up gluing themselves to the ensemble in the process.

More marines to follow soon; more than likely another bike of some sort or development on a second tactical squad.

Flintloque Ferach Elf Hussars

After several weeks of a hectic work schedule and moving house (again), I have managed to get something finished to add on here. I've taken a break from Citadel for a short while so here is my first non GW post.
The Flintloque range from Alternative Armies may not be the finest sculpts around but to me they do possess a certain charm. Here are three Elf Hussars who have all been converted. The original faces were lacking in detail so all three have had head swaps from various Elf infantry figures. Also, I have had to tend to any areas of miscasting plus sculpting hair and the fur collars on their pelisses.

I don't usually add work In progress pictures but with the extent of conversion work with these three, I thought it was work sticking them on.
