Perry Miniatures French Napoleonic Battalion - Command Section
So over Christmas and new year, I managed to complete the second phase of my Napoleonic French battalion, the command base, consisting of a mounted infantry Colonel, the regimental eagle bearer and a fusilier drummer.
I hadn't noticed at first, but it turns out the eagle bearer was missing the chinscales on his shako. I'm guessing they'd been forgotten about when he was being sculpted (!) so I ended up adding a pair myself out of green stuff. The flag is from the excellent GMB Designs.
A few days ago, I posted them up on the Perry Miniatures fan page on Facebook. It was good to get a bit of constructive feedback from one of the guys on there (thanks Tim!). Basically, the colonel's saddle was supposed to be blue instead of red which was no longer used post 1812. Also, the pompoms of the eagle bearer and the drummer were the wrong colours. I've since corrected these as you can see in the following photos.
I'm currently working on the next section of fusiliers (1st Company) so I'm glad the enthusiasm is still there to keep it going. As I said before, I'm not expecting to get the entire battalion finished in one go. I'm happy to stick with it until I get the urge to take on something else and carry on with them later on down the line. For now, I'm thoroughly enjoying them.
