Rogue Trader Chaos Renegades
So, after recently painting the chaos terminator captain, I've been keen to carry on with more chaos marines. So this week, I knocked out a couple of the classic Rogue Trader chaos renegades.
Both are Kev Adams sculpts with the guy on the right most likely being my favourite of all the original renegades. The one on the left, for some reason, never made it into the 90's catalogue - there were a few that suffered the same fate.
I remember when the chaos renegades first came out in 1988, I bought a pack of three (including the guy on the right) and didn't know where to start with them, with all their intricate detail. I love the Venetian bauta style face mask that the right hand one is wearing. Both have such characterful and individual features, as all that range possess really.
Both are wearing the original metal backpacks. I've got enough for a squad of five and more. I'd love to get hold of a few more but they are on the pricey side. I've found them a bit of a nightmare to paint, part painting them before fixing them on and finishing off.
I'll be up for more renegades soon enough but meantime, I've got a small vignette planned next which will probably keep me occupied for three or four weeks.

ReplyDelete😂 Still an ongoing issue here by the looks of it. Can't find any for love nor money.
DeleteWhat an amazing paintjob, they look really ace, I love how you worked on all those hues of red!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Suber! It takes so long to layer that red. Very thin layers, almost a glaze every time.
DeleteThis duo pop right out of the illustrations from the original Slaves to Darkness supplement I think. Both the classic sculpts and your vibrant and obvious Khornate painting just make these minis shine. Love them to death!
