Warhammer Empire Tilean Handgunner Regiment - Mercenary Captain

I've finally made a start on my Tilean handgunner regiment, having decided, at last, on a colour scheme; the primary reason for holding me back for so long. Green isn't a colour I generally enjoy using but I felt I needed to incorporate it into the scheme as I wanted this new regiment to be different in appearance to my other two Tilean regiments.
I've opted for green and light blue, which are an unusual pairing and don't really compliment each other but the inclusion of the red compliments them both. So it kind of works.
The model I've used for the regiment leader is a commission sculpt by the talented Alessio Cisbani of Wolfbane Art from several years ago, based on a John Blanche illustration from the 4th edition Warhammer Empire rulebook.
It's taken a fair while to decide on models for this regiment, especially the standard bearer, which I'm currently working on so hopefully will post him up next week. I'm also working on a couple of other projects, including another MM66 Marauder mounted Reiksguard so stay tuned for both.

  2. Nice model! I initially thought it was a miniature released for Mordheim. And nice paintjob too :)

    1. Thanks Jaeckel! He would suit a Mordheim warband for sure.

    1. Cheers Mike. It's great that Alessio could do it justice. I still think it's one of his finest sculpts. Not that I'm biased or anything.

  4. Brilliant. That looks fantastic. I remember my grandma (I think?) telling me "blue and green should never be seen unless there's something in between" which I personally have never subscribed to as I have a green tie I think goes quite well with my navy suit but in your case the red gives it the "in between". In any case, it looks great!

    1. Haha, I had that saying in my head a lot when I was painting him, Kym. My dad always used to say it but I've never heard the last part though. Makes sense really. Good that you didn't feel the need to wear a red shirt with the suit and tie.

    2. Haha yes - no red shirt though if I was a 1990s warhammer mini, perhaps...
